WE BRING DATA TO LIFE THROUGH SOUND
At Loud Numbers, we create bespoke music tracks that span genres from techno to classical – all based on data.
We can help you tell stories, stir emotions, reach new audiences, and create memorable, unique experiences that stand out from the crowd.

Our Work
-
A Symphony of Bureaucracy
An eight-synthesizer spatial sound installation driven by EU lawmaking data from 1950 to the present day.
-
The Sonification Machine
A physical soundscape machine, powered by streams of invisible data captured by sensors around the world.
-
Growth of Koji
A sonification that turns koji's growth, heat, and enzyme activity into music and motion, created in collaboration with Maxene Graze.
-
Walmart Event
A guitar rock track based on US pandemic sales data, created for an industry event hosted by Jack Morton for Walmart.
-
On Standby
Seven volunteer participants measured the overnight energy use of their devices. We transformed their data into a 10-hour ambient musical experience to sleep to. Sound artwork commissioned as part of the CCI4Change programme.
-
Scorched Earth
An audiovisual artwork built from data on Sweden’s devastating 2018 fire season.
Commissioned for the Nature’s Harmony Exhibition in Helsingborg, Sweden.
-
Hold the Line
A piece of sound art generated by data from Canada’s 2023 wildfire season. Every fire reported during the season is represented by a click, with each real-world day playing out over 2.5 seconds of sound.
-
The Carrington Event
Turning records of a huge 19th century solar storm into a 17-minute performance and musical recording. The more intense the music, the more intense the disturbance to the Earth’s magnetic field. Released on Camembert Électrique.
-
Bristol Burning
A year of city air quality as a dub track, with original vocals by T. Relly. Part of the Slow the Smoke citizen science project.
-
London Under the Microscope
Transforming London's Covid-19 data into sound for the Museum of London, with video by Valentina D’Efilippo.
-
Live Union
The sound of search. Hear the growth in Google Trends searches for the phrase ‘immersive experience’ over time.
Commissioned by Live Union for a live event. -
The Loud Numbers Podcast
Where it all started. Data stories on everything from climate change and insect decline to the US economy and the taste of beer – all turned into music.
-
Waking the Giants
Climate data performed on trombone and electronics by Simon Petermann. Performed in Egypt during COP27 with visuals by Aya Tarek.

UK Heatwave 2022
The sound of temperatures at three locations in the UK during the July 2022 heatwave. The louder and rougher the sound, the hotter the temperatures, which rise in the day and fall at night.
-
Photospheric Variations
Ambient track based on sunspot data from 1700 to 2021. The higher and rougher each note, the more sunspots were observed in a given year.
